A community dedicated to Bitcoin, the currency of the Internet. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. A large percentage of Bitcoin enthusiasts are libertarians, though people of all political philosophies are welcome.
Hi, I jumped in the bandwagon of bitcoin mining 1 month ago and I can now say that I'm doing quite a lot and have a nice ROI. Look for these keywords when you search about: USB Miner, Bitfury, ASIC, CGMiner, BFGMiner, Hashrate, Hub. I use myself USB miner from bifuryminers(dot)com, but shhh this is my little secret :D and we can promote that kind of good stuff here so..(I still love you reddit <3 ) Ok, so when you are set, don't try to do as I did in the first place: try to do it all by myself. Go on bitcoin mining forum, find people and pool and THEN, start the mining. It's really simple, low power consumption (with USB miners). Have fun in what you do and improve your methods!

Bitcoin mining, development, and major forums have all been centralized and are working against the best interest of Bitcoin; would Satoshi tell us to sell?
I'm starting to see Satoshi's vision differently in the last week or so since the miners, both pools and individuals, are refusing to take the necessary steps to give the network the capacity that it needs to run efficiently. We are regularly at 75% full blocks, or more, even during very slow times of the year for shopping. On an idle Monday or Tuesday we are seeing the network hit the limit and go over repeatedly. It really blew me away to realize that probably the best way to help bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large is to always be migrating toward the coin with the best technology and the most decentralization, and right now bitcoin is far from that position with very few signs that this will change back anytime soon. SegWit SF is likely going to be a terrible fiasco that will yeild little, if any, additional headroom and it won't even be close to what we need during a halving year. I've started unloading some of my coins after asking myself what Satoshi would do. What are your thoughts? edit: typo
